Rand McNally has been in the trucking map business for over a century, and their routing algorithms for truck-specific restrictions are slightly more refined. Both devices handle low bridges, weight limits, and hazmat routes, but Rand McNally's data is marginally more comprehensive.

Garmin's traffic service is more reliable and responsive, with real-time updates that frequently suggest better alternatives. Rand McNally's traffic works but updates less frequently and covers fewer secondary routes.
