Lytx has been in the fleet dashcam business longer and their MV+AI detection engine is extremely mature, covering distracted driving, drowsiness, cell phone use, following distance, and more. Motive's AI detection is catching up rapidly and covers similar events, but Lytx's algorithm has been trained on a larger dataset of fleet driving events, resulting in fewer false positives.

Lytx is typically the more expensive option, especially when you factor in the separate hardware cost and monthly subscription on top of your existing telematics provider. Motive's dashcam pricing is more competitive, particularly when bundled with their ELD and fleet management services. The total cost of ownership favors Motive for most fleet sizes.
